Qualifying for four Austell positions on the Nov. 3 ballot will be 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31, Sept. 1 and 2 in the conference room, Suite 107, Austell Threadmill Complex, 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Austell.

The mayor’s post and three city council posts are up for election - now held by Mayor Joe Jerkins, Councilwomen Virginia A. Reagan of Ward 4 and Suzanne A. Thomason of At-large, Post 2 and Ward 2 Councilman Scott S. Thomas.

The qualifying fee is $360 for city council positions and $900 for mayor - based on 3 percent of their base salaries, which is $12,000 for each city council member and $30,000 for the mayor who also serves as the city manager.
