Former NBA player Lamar Odom and ex-husband of reality TV star Khloe Kardashian is fighting for his life after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, the Associated Press reports.
Odom reportedly was seen taking Reload known as "herbal Viagra." Here’s what we know about the supplement:
1. Although Viagra is approved by the FDA, and requires a prescription, Reload and other "herbal Viagra" supplements are not regulated by the FDA and can be obtained without a prescription.
2. In 2013, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned that "consumers should stop using this product immediately and throw it away."
3. The product contains sildenafil, an ingredient also found in prescription drug Viagra. Sildenafil can cause blood pressure to drop to dangerous levels, particularly when it interacts with prescription drugs containing nitrates.
4. The packaging for Reload features a woman kissing a gun "loaded" with the supplement.
5. There are reports that Lamar Odom's Reload may have been spiked.
6. The company that makes Reload is reportedly out of business.
