A Clayton County man was arrested Monday after authorities said he stabbed his younger brother to death in front of their family.

Joseph Oliver allegedly stabbed Joshua Oliver after a “dispute” at their home in the 9800 block of Braxley Way near Jonesboro, according to a statement from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

The brothers’ father, mother and grandmother witnessed the stabbing, officials said.

Joshua Oliver was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead.

Joseph Oliver was arrested Monday night on charges of malice murder and aggravated assault, according to Clayton County jail records. Bond has not been set.

Authorities said Oliver was found with a knife in his pocket and admitted to stabbing his brother, but he claimed it was self-defense.
