After the cliffhanger of Season 3 — when Issa bumped into her former love Lawrence in a random gas station market — fans of “Insecure” came up with all sorts of scenarios about how the next moments would play out.

On Wednesday, Issa Rae, the star, co-creator and executive producer of the show, announced that “Insecure” would return this spring on HBO. The last episode of Season 3 aired in late September 2018.

After a nearly 18-month break, the coming-of-age story about black 30-somethings in Inglewood, California, will return April 12, Rae told her followers on Instagram. The writer/actress also shared a short clip from Season 4 on her Instagram page Wednesday.

The hit series will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and partners’ streaming platforms.

When Season 4 begins, main character Issa is pursuing a passion project that actually moves her, unlike her former job at “We Got Y’all.” Her best friend Molly, played by Yvonne Orji, is navigating a solid relationship, and Lawrence, played by Jay Ellis, is figuring out what means the most to him, according to Blackfilm.com.
