Remains found in a wooded area of Woodstock on Sunday afternoon are those of an unidentified black man, a GBI medical examiner has ruled.

The man was about 6 feet tall and likely between ages 27 and 53 years, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jay Baker said Thursday.

A biologist searching for snakes off South Cherokee Lane found the man’s body.

The man was wearing red and black size 13 Adidas tennis shoes and blue jeans, Baker said.

Investigators found an expandable baton in a nylon case on the dead man’s belt and burgundy shorts near his remains, the spokesman said.

Cherokee sheriff’s deputies have said they know of no missing person who fits the man’s description. They are asking for the public’s help at 770-928-0239.
