An Indiana man was charged with murder in the slaying of his grandfather on Monday, according to reports.

Trent David Kreegar, 26, is accused of killing Robert Huffman Jr., 67, on Sept. 5 at a home in Daleville, Indiana, The Star Press reported. Kreegar is also charged with aggravated battery.

According to Indiana State Police, Kreegar acknowledged hitting his grandfather in the head with a wheelbarrow and choking him during an altercation, The Star Press reported.

Kreegar then waited several hours to call emergency services, according to The Star Press. Huffman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder conviction carries a maximum 65-year prison term in Indiana, The Star Press reported. A trial date has not been scheduled, according to the outlet.
