The couple killed in an apparent murder-suicide at a Euharlee home was identified Tuesday.

Investigators believe Jacques Antoine, 39, shot and killed his 33-year-old girlfriend and then himself, according to police.

Charlette Singletary was found on the deck of the home and was pronounced dead at Cartersville Medical Center. Antoine was found dead later Monday afternoon inside the Winchester Drive home, in the Hunters Landing subdivision, Euharlee police said.

The SWAT team attempted unsuccessfully to make contact with the alleged gunman inside the home. Officers then obtained a search warrant to enter the home, where they found Antoine’s body, Chief Terry Harget said.

Two nearby schools, Woodland Middle and Euharlee Elementary, dismissed at normal times, a spokeswoman for the Bartow County school system said. The exterior doors of both schools were locked during the police investigation.

Euharlee is located about 8 miles west of Cartersville.
