As families hit the road for Thanksgiving, expect double the amount of traffic across metro Atlanta.

Rush hour-type traffic delays are already building, Kim McCarthy in the WSB Traffic Center said early Wednesday afternoon.

And they won’t subside until at least 6 p.m., she said.

I-75 is currently slow in both directions through Henry County and south leaving Clayton County, McCarthy said. Avoid I-85 South between the Hamilton Mill and Highway 211 exits as authorities continue to investigate an accident involving a tractor-trailer.

If you want to check on traffic before heading out, you can do so at the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
