A high school football player was shot to death in East Dublin early Sunday, according to the Laurens County deputy coroner.

Deputies were called to a report of gunfire around 6 a.m. in the 200 block of Chase Drive, about 60 miles southeast of Macon, according to media reports. Le’ontae Coates, 16, died at the scene, Nathan Stanley, Laurens deputy coroner, said late Monday.

Two people were charged after the shooting, but neither has been charged with Coates' death, according to reports.

Lashundria Madison, 36, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault against Roderick Brown. Brown, 33, was charged with simple battery and criminal trespassing, the reports indicated.

According to the Laurens County jail website, Madison was released on $5,000 bond, while Brown was being held without bond late Monday.

Coates was a 9th-grade student at West Laurens High School, where he played football. Stanley said Coates also was a wrestler.

Please lift up the Coates family in your prayers. Also please pray for our football family as we mourn the loss of one of our brothers! #WLRaiderNation
