A Henry County woman charged with beating, starving and killing the 2-year-old foster child in her care is granted bond.

Jennifer Rosenbaum on Tuesday was granted $100,000 bond by Henry County Judge Arch McGarity, who also ordered her to wear a monitoring device. She is charged in the Nov. 17 death of Laila Marie Daniel.

At the hearing Tuesday, Rosenbaum’s supporters cited her community involvement and lack of a criminal record. Rosenbaum had served as an intern in the local court and state Legislature.

But Laila’s family became visibly upset when Rosenbaum was granted bond. Several family members and friends got up to walk out of the courtroom in protest. They question whether Rosenbaum is receiving preferential treatment in Henry County, where she had been an intern in the district attorney’s office.
