A man wanted on a murder charge in the death of his wife in Hampton was arrested Sunday after a nearly nine-hour standoff on a busy Chicago street.

According to The Chicago Sun-Times, police surrounded a car belonging to Joseph Andrew Felton Jr., 43, who Henry County police say killed his wife, Sheray Latriest Felton, on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for the town of Harvey, Illinois, told the Sun-Times that local officers, acting on a tip from Henry County police, had attempted to pull over the suspected fugitive around 12:20 p.m. Central time. A chase ensued, ending in a wreck on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.

An autopsy on Felton’s wife was scheduled for Monday, Henry County police Sgt. Joey Smith said. Police are waiting for those results before commenting on the cause and manner of her death.
