Athletic apparel company Mizuno has teamed up with the Atlanta Track Club to create an exclusive running shoe for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. This will be first shoe designed specifically for the race. Pre-sale of the Limited Edition Peachtree Wave Rider 19 began May 1 at Atlanta-area running stores Big Peach Running Co., West Stride and Phidippides. They will be available in stores and online by early June.
The shoe will have the same features as the popular Wave Rider, including Wave technology that absorbs impact and provides support that keeps the runner centered in the shoe. The shoe will also feature an upgraded sole and sock liner. For the Limited Edition Peachtree Wave Rider, the design will pay homage to both the largest 10K in the world and Independence Day with a vibrant red, white and blue graduated pattern.
The AJC Peachtree Road Race is an annual 10K that takes place in Atlanta on July Fourth. The 2016 race will be the 47th running. With 60,000 participants running from Buckhead to Piedmont Park, it has become the largest such event in the world. Mizuno is the official footwear and apparel partner of the Atlanta Track Club, who organizes the race.
