A police chase ended Tuesday afternoon when the suspect crashed into a pole at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial and Jimmy Carter boulevards, authorities said.
Mark Cordle, 29, of Atlanta, was injured in the crash, which knocked out traffic lights in the intersection for several hours.
At approximately 4:25 Tuesday afternoon, Cordle crossed the gore of a highway and was stopped by a Doraville police officer, said Officer Gene Callaway of the Doraville Police Department.
When the officer checked the Cordle’s record, two felony warrants came up from Louisiana and Alabama — one for fraud and one for larceny, Callaway said.
“The suspect fled the scene, leading three Doraville cars on a chase for five minutes,” Callaway said.
Cordle was taken to a local hospital for his injuries, according to police. He has been charged with felony fleeing, reckless driving and suspended license, police said late Tuesday. Additional charges are possible, Callaway said.
After he is released from the hospital, Cordle is expected to be booked into the Gwinnett County jail, police said.
