For one Gwinnett County man, a $30 scratch-off has turned into millions.
Georgia Lottery officials said Suwanee resident Mark Clayton recently claimed the $7-million top prize he won on a “Max the Money” instant ticket. The ticket was purchased at the BP Foodmart at 500 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Suwanee.
Clayton claimed his prize on May 18 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth, officials said.
No further information was provided on that enviable stroke of luck, but lottery officials did pass along information about another big winner.
Anthony Miner-Mauricio, 20, of Athens, won the $250,000 top prize on the $5 Monopoly Millionaires’ Club game. The construction worker and student at the University of North Georgia purchased his ticket at the Shell Food Mart at 4580 Winters Chapel Road in Doraville.
“I looked at it 10 times and took it back to a gas station,” Miner-Mauricio said, according to lottery officials. “I didn’t believe it at first.”
