Attorney Gloria Allred is minutes away from conducting a press conference at a Cobb County hotel to discuss alleged abuse by an NFL player.

In an email announcing the 3 p.m. press conference at the Radisson Hotel Atlanta Northwest, Allred said she would be joined by “two individuals who allege that they or a family member were victims of violence and abuse by an NFL player.” She said those two would “discuss how the NFL and Commissioner Goodell failed them.”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's handling of family violence issues has come under fire in recent weeks after a video was released showing former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice hitting his then-fiancee Janay Palmer twice inside the elevator of an Atlantic City casino in February.

Even though an Atlantic City police summons stated that Rice caused “bodily injury to Janay Palmer, specifically by striking her with his hand, rendering her unconscious,” the league initially suspended Rice in July for two games.

After the latest video surfaced earlier this month, the Ravens cut Rice and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
