A Savannah woman’s Facebook post has gone viral after she shared her harrowing tale of surviving a head-on collision with a turtle.

The woman, Latonya Lark, wrote on Facebook late last week about the incident. She warned that Savannah drivers should beware of “flying turtle(s).”

Lark told WSAV-TV that while driving on Truman Parkway on May 12 with her brother, Kevin Grant, she came into contact with the unsuspecting creature. She, at first, thought the lodged item in her windshield was a brick. Turns out, it was a turtle that had cracked the windshield and missed Grant by a couple of inches.

Grant suffered a few cuts from the crash. The turtle survived, according to Lark, but it lost its leg in the crash.

“Mr Turtle was found at fault but he did not have insurance. He got escorted to the Wildlife reserve, I got stuck with the bill,” she wrote in her Facebook post. “So beware Savannah of flying turtle on the Truman Parkway. My brother almost lost his head. Besides my sugar going off the roof.. I am fine but disturbed..”
