Georgia restaurant No. 1 for barbecue, state No. 5

Just in time for Memorial Day, TripAdvisor announced the top-rated barbecue restaurants and states in the country.

Joe’s BBQ in Blue Ridge was ranked the best barbecue spot in the country. The website says their rankings are based on reviews from TripAdvisor’s very passionate and opinionated community.

Joe’s dry-rubbed pork, chicken and ribs, and array of barbecue sauces are a big draw for hungry travelers in northern Georgia.

“Competition quality ribs in a restaurant are very few and far between but they are the norm here,” one TripAdvisor reviewer commented.

Joe's BBQ ranked No. 7 nationwide in 2014.

Although Georgia was named the No. 1 state for barbecue in 2014, the Peach State was knocked down a few notches this year, to No. 5.
