Idalia is weakening as it moves inland, but it is likely still to be a hurricane when its center reaches Georgia later Wednesday.

Destructive winds are moving into southern Georgia, the National Hurricane Center said in its 10 a.m. advisory. The maximum sustained winds were 101 mph, with higher gusts.

The Valdosta Regional Airport recorded sustained tropical-storm-force winds at 39 mph with gusts up to 63 mph, according to the Hurricane Center.
