One person suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon near a Southeast Georgia Air Force recruiting office.

On Wednesday, police in Pooler told WSAV they were initially given false information that led to an extensive search for another shooter in the area.

On Tuesday, police initially said the shooting was “between two people that we believe are known to each other.”

Police were called to the Towne Center Boulevard area in Pooler about 1:30 p.m., according to WSAV.

Police, K-9 units and a helicopter searched the area for a suspect.

Pooler is in Chatham County, where Savannah is the county seat.
