Georgia has five living former governors, including the most famous, Jimmy Carter.

Carter was governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975, before his successful campaign for president.

Here are four other living former governors of Georgia:

  • Joe Frank Harris, Democrat, served 1983 to 1991.
  • Roy Barnes, Democrat, served 1999 to 2003
  • Sonny Perdue, Republican, served 2003 to 2011.
  • Nathan Deal, Republican, served from 2011 to 2019.
