Early voting for the May 22 Georgia primary

Update: The runoff election will be Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Who’s on the runoff ballot? Early voting in the runoff begins July 2. 

On May 22, voters across metro Atlanta and Georgia will cast  ballots in the Republican and Democratic primaries, nonpartisan and special elections. 

Voters who want to beat the crowd on Election Day can vote early beginning on April 30.

Who is on the ballot?

The most prominent election on May 22 will be for governor. The Democrats and Republicans have contested primaries to choose nominees to replace Gov. Nathan Dealwho is not on the ballot. (He has served two terms, the limit in Georgia.)

The ballot also includes candidates for Congress, Georgia House and Senate and state races that include lieutenant governor and secretary of state.

County commission seats and members of county boards of education are also on the ballot. Most counties also have nonpartisan judicial elections.

When is Election Day?

Polls will be open at local precincts on Tuesday, May 22. Runoff elections will be Tuesday, July 24.

Early voting begins Monday, April 30 and ends May 18. There is no early voting on Saturday, May 19 or Monday, May 21.

Locations and hours for early voting vary. Check your county elections office for the hours and locations.

Who can vote?

Voters must be registered by Tuesday, April 24.
