The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has lost one of its own.

Retired K-9 Blade passed away Wednesday at age 12 following more than a year battling stomach cancer. Blade, a male Beauceron, served with the agency from 2006 to 2009 and was paired with then-Sgt. Scott Wilson.

He assisted in many felony arrests, once tracking and finding two armed robbery suspects who were located miles apart, according to the department. One had climbed a tree, the other was hidig in tall grass.

In addition to tracking, Blade worked in drug cases and criminal apprehension.
