The Forsyth County Courthouse, scene of a shootout Friday morning between deputies and a criminal defendant, will be open for business Monday.

Repairs were made over the weekend to walls and windows that were struck by bullets exchanged between as many as eight deputies and a 48-year-old Cumming man, according to a Forsyth spokesperson.

Armed with multiple explosives and rounds of ammunition, gunman Dennis Marx attempted a "full frontal assault" on the building, Sheriff Duane Piper said. Wayne Crisci, a longtime friend of Marx, said the attack was motivated by a 2011 arrest.

Deputy Daniel Rush, the first to engage Marx, was shot in the leg and is recovering at a local hospital. Marx, wearing two bulletproof vests, was pronounced dead at the scene.
