The first principal has been named for Forsyth County’s planned college and career academy-focused high school which is set to open in August 2018.

Brandi Cannizzaro will take over as leader of the planned Alliance Academy for Innovation of Cumming-Forsyth County effective July 1, 2017. She ‘s currently an assistant principal at Lambert High School.

The planned college and career academy is a joint project involving the Forsyth County Schools, Forsyth County government, the city of Cumming and several other entities. Officials said the school will provide career development for high-schoolers that focuses on on high-demand, high-growth occupations. It’s also aimed at secondary, post-secondary and continuing education for individuals and businesses.

Work is poised to start on the academy’s home, a planned three-story building on Lanier 400 Parkway in central Forsyth County.
