A Fulton County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a woman accused of stealing more than $80,000 from an elementary school PTA.
Maryann Arjomand, 48, was indicted on two count of forgery and three counts of theft by taking on Tuesday, according to Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard.
Arjomand, a former member of the E. River Elementary School PTA and foundation, was arrested in April 2012 after an audit revealed missing funds. Between 2010 and 2012, at least $80,000.00 was stolen from the groups’ accounts, and he investigation revealed the funds were funneled into an unauthorized account established at a bank where Arjomand had worked, police previously said.
Investigators allege she would pick up donations in person, then deposit them into her personal bank account. Arjomand turned herself in and was later released from jail after posting $40,000 bond.
The case will now be assigned to a Fulton County Superior Court Judge and scheduled for trial.
