An employee of a northwest Atlanta convenience store is recovering after he was shot Sunday night in the store’s parking lot.

The 38-year-old victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds when officers responded to the Troy Supermarket at the corner of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and Troy Street, according to Atlanta police. He was stable when he was taken to a hospital shortly after 11:30 p.m.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim went out to the parking lot to retrieve items from a vehicle when the suspect walked up and shot him,” police spokesman Officer Steve Avery said in an emailed statement.

The suspect has not been identified.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation. It was not known if the victim was targeted.
