Earlier this week, a Florida police officer successfully delivered a baby in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven, according to a news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatchers received a 911 call from a man just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, indicating his wife was in labor at a 7-Eleven parking lot near Tampa and would not make it to the hospital, according to the release.

Within minutes of arriving, Deputy Jordan Ream was helping to deliver a baby boy, an incredible moment caught on the officer’s body camera, according to the news release.

Toward the end of the video, the baby’s father is seen shaking hands with Ream, thanking him for his help and quick thinking.

“Thank you, man,” the new dad said. “I really, really appreciate it. I was about to lose my mind. I’ve never — all the stuff I’ve been through in my life, I’ve never been through that.”

The mother and baby were transported safely to a hospital and are “doing great,” according to the release.

“While a car is hardly a place anyone would want to give birth in, Deputy Ream repeatedly reassured the new mom that she was in good hands. Immediately, his training kicked in and he was able to deliver the healthy baby while keeping mom safe too,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in the release.

“I wish Mom, Dad, and their new baby boy all the happiness. Congratulations!” Chronister said.
