A fiery crash left a driver dead and temporarily blocked a busy Cobb County road Monday afternoon.
The single-vehicle wreck happened just after 12:30 p.m. near Dallas Highway and Ward Farm Drive, Cobb police spokeswoman Officer Shenise McDonald said in a statement.
According to investigators, a red 2004 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling west on Dallas Highway when the car veered off the roadway at the intersection with Ward Farm Drive and hit a utility pole. The driver, identified as 48-year-old Stephen Waldrop of Hiram, was pronounced dead on the scene.
During the investigation, drivers were urged to avoid the area.
