Since May 28, a federal inmate has been a free man since escaping from prison in Atlanta. His freedom ended Friday with his arrest in Texas, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Clayton Armstrong Hill was arrested Friday morning in an Arlington, Texas, apartment, where he had allegedly been living with his wife, Deputy Gretchen Fortin said.

Hill was convicted of tax fraud in 2011 and sentenced to serve 92 months federal prison. But on May 28, he was not present at an evening count of inmates, and days later an arrest warrant was issued for issued for Hill's arrest.

Although he’s never been on trial for it, Hill claims he was involved in the cover-up of the 1997 shooting death of hip-hop star Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace. In his 2011 prison memoirs, Hill claimed that he was involved in the cover-up of the March 9, 1997 fatal shooting of Wallace in Los Angeles.

Hill was indicted in 2009 and pleaded guilty to filing 121 fraudulent federal income tax returns in Illinois and Georgia between 2002 and 2006, receiving more than $353,000 in refunds, according to the indictment.

Hill is expected to make a first appearance before a magistrate judge in Texas before he is extradited to Georgia, Fortin said.
