Elton John announced Thursday that the entirety of the North American leg for his “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour will be pushed back indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Fans hoping to see the flamboyant star perform in concert between May 22 and July 8 will have to wait.
“Elton promises to continue performing live for all his dedicated fans around the world again and thanks you for your endless support,” according to a statement on Twitter.

The Southeast is the first region impacted by the latest announcement. John was to perform May 22 in Columbia, South Carolina, and then continue to North Carolina, Florida, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Fans should keep their tickets, which will be honored at a rescheduled performance in 2021.
John announced he was canceling the first part of his retirement tour’s North American leg 10 days before the first concert March 26.

Originally, he was to perform in New York City on April 6-7, in an area now considered the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S.
The European leg of his tour is still set to kick off in Germany on Sept. 5.
