A Douglasville man surrendered in Alabama for allegedly shooting a man in June during an armed robbery, according to police.
Jeremee Bernard Griffin, 21, was accompanied by an attorney when he turned himself in Tuesday afternoon to Jacksonville, Ala., police. Griffin was charged with attempt to commit murder and first degree robbery with a weapon for his alleged role in a June 16 shooting, according to police.
According to The Gadsen Times, Vilas Rajesh Patel, 22, left a gathering at his home after receiving a phone call and agreeing to meet someone at another location. Patel was shot in the 800 block of Mountain Street, the newspaper reported. Patel is recovering from his injuries after being flown to the hospital, police told the newspaper.
Griffin was being held Wednesday on $100,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 11 at 1:30 p.m., police said.
