Douglas jail inmates under investigation
Douglas County officials say several inmates committed financial identity theft and credit card fraud while they were locked up.
According to sheriff’s officials, 24 inmates received multiple transactions to their commissary accounts totaling around $6,500. Six of those inmates have been charged while the other 18 are still under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
Some of the inmates asked to have money on their accounts to buy snacks and hygiene items released to people who are not in jail, the sheriff’s office said.
