A 34-year-old man that has been in state prison five times and is again in jail has been charged with another felony, police said.
Malcom Ali Webb, of a Hiram address, is accused of hiding marijuana in a mattress and a toilet paper roll at the Douglas County jail, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
"Operating on a tip, officers requested assistance from Deputy Adams and his K-9 Bando," the Douglas County Sheriff's Office posted on its website. "Deputy Adams made a sweep of the dorm with his K-9 partner, who alerted on Webb's bunk."
Webb was charged with possession of drugs by an inmate, a felony charge, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, jail records show. His bond for the two new charges was set at $5,000. Webb remained in the Douglas County jail Wednesday, where he was being held on a probation violation, according to booking records.
Webb was re-arrested June 26 for violating the terms of his probation, according to police. From September 2000 until June 2010, Webb served in state prison five times, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
His most recent conviction was for theft by taking, but Webb also has prior convictions for cocaine possession, simple battery and obstruction, DOC records show.
