The doctors at Georgia Eye Partners near St. Joseph’s Hospital on Johnson Ferry Road hosted a sleepover when Tuesday snowstorm shut down traffic near their Perimeter offices.
According Gino Gabianelli, an ophthalmologist at the practice, about 130 patients and staff from doctors’ offices in the building ended up spending the night.
“It was like a big slumber party,” he said.
One patient, who’d had cataract surgery, was stranded with his family and spent the night with patches on his eyes. But at least his doctor was nearby and could examine him first thing in the morning.
The doctors, staff and patients procured hospital beds for folks to sleep on, and got food from a nearby McDonalds.
And some in the group grabbed cafeteria trays and cardboard boxes to go sledding in the parking lot.
No word on whether this was all paid for under Obamacare.
