Three people, including an 81-year-old doctor, have been arrested after an investigation into a weight loss clinic in Cumming.

Teresa Vickers, 52, owner of Doctors Weight Loss Center, and Mary Wysong, 69, an administrative assistant, were arrested Monday. The physician in charge of the clinic, Dr. E. Walter Hood, turned himself in Tuesday, according to a news release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation, which began in 2011, included Forsyth authorities, the Georgia Drug and Narcotics Agency and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The probe began with the state agency and revolved around the distribution of controlled substances, according to the release. Vickers was supposed to stop dispensing controlled substances after the initial investigation. A joint investigation was launched after several alleged violations of the agreement with Vickers were discovered.

Vickers and Wysong face charges of conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, pre-signing blank prescriptions, possession of pre-signed blank prescriptions, practicing medicine without a license, practicing pharmacy without a license, possession of controlled substances, and distribution of controlled substances, according to the release.
