Seventeen-year-old Curry Carr was among the hundreds of Atlantans that gathered Friday for an evening demonstration following this week's officer-involved shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota.

The upcoming Decatur High School senior spoke in front of a large crowd of fellow attendees.

"When I wake up every morning," he said, "I am afraid to see what has happened and what injustice has been done the day before."

Carr said attending the peaceful protest is the first opportunity he has had to help in any way towards change.
He also thanked the NAACP and other organizers that help create change and end police brutality.
The 6 p.m. rally, organized by the NAACP, along with Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta, followed recent police shooting deaths of two African-American men—Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota.

During a peaceful protest in Dallas Thursday evening, a sniper opened fire and fatally shot five officers, authorities confirmed.

Seven other officers and two civilians were also injured in the shooting.
