One person has been killed in a shooting in Lawrenceville, police said.

Two more people have been reported injured following the early afternoon incident at 561 West Pike Street near the intersection with McConnell Drive, Lawrenceville Police Capt. Greg Vaughn said.

The incident occurred roughly 100 yards away from Phoenix High School, according to police, but it is unclear whether students from the school were involved.

“We don’t have any information right now that there is any connection to the high school,” Vaughn said.

Police have not identified the victims, but investigators have gone to Gwinnett Medical Center where the injured individuals were taken to try to interview them, Vaughn said.

Phoenix High, what school officials call a non-traditional campus where students come and go throughout the day, has been under a “soft lockdown,” Gwinnett Schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach said.

“There is a police presence so that students can come and go safely,” Roach said.

Police continue to interview students and other possible witnesses, authorities said, but no suspects have been identified.
