A Whitfield County jury on Friday decided an aspiring model, dancer and rapper was also a murderer.

The Whitfield County jury started hearing the case of Skyy Mims last week. The Detroit woman was charged with murdering 37-year-old Dahyabhai Chaudhari in March 2014.

Prosecutors told jurors Mims stabbed the man to death in a Dalton convenience store for about $200 in cash and scratch-off lottery tickets, Channel 2 Action News reported.

. Her lawyer contends the arrest resulted from mistaken identity.

The killing stunned the local community, where the victim was popular. Mims was arrested in Bartow County.

Within hours of being identified as the suspect in the crime, the then 21-year-old woman was in custody. And it was tips from the community that helped lead local, state and federal investigators to her.
