Train traffic through College Park was temporarily stopped Thursday while officials investigated a fatal accident involving a CSX train and a pedestrian.
Around 11 a.m., a train headed to Hamlet, N.C., from New Orleans struck the pedestrian, who was walking along the tracks near the Harvard crossing on Main Street, CSX spokeswoman Kristin Seay told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Train operations have resumed through College Park, she told The AJC around 4:30 p.m.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office has positively identified the man who as killed in the incident, but his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
