The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office has increased the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the robbery of a Dahlonega gold mine earlier this month, authorities announced Thursday.

A man allegedly walked into the Crisson Gold Mine on Morrison Moore Parkway on Feb. 3 and took large amounts of gold, jewelry, cellphones and money from employees, the sheriff’s office said at the time.

He was last seen near Cavender Creek Road and was described as about 5-foot-7 to 5-10 and about 225 pounds. He wore a Cincinnati Bengals puffy black jacket, a news release stated. He may be armed and dangerous.

The reward for information was increased from $1,000 to $10,000.

Anyone with information about the man or the incident is asked to call Investigator Sterling Cole at 706-482-2622.
