A man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in northwest Atlanta on Friday night.

Officers discovered the man wounded but alert when they arrived in the 800 block of Magnolia Way about 8:30 p.m., according to Atlanta police. He was in “serious condition” when he was taken to the hospital, and an update on his condition was not provided.

The shooting is at least the third since May on Magnolia Way, which is in Atlanta’s Vine City neighborhood.

Alice Merrell, 28, died May 17 after being shot multiple times in an apartment complex on the street. Three months later, 28-year-old Johnathan Pennington was critically wounded inside a car Aug. 21 and later died at the hospital. Pennington’s death marked the 100th homicide investigation that police opened this year.

Officers said they are still searching for Friday’s shooting suspect, who ran away from the crime scene. The suspect has not been publicly identified.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, police said.
