A man led police on a chase Thursday evening before crashing his Lamborghini SUV in Buckhead, authorities said.
Jason Demps, a felon, was allegedly driving recklessly around 11:30 p.m. when his black Lamborghini Urus almost collided with a Sandy Springs police officer who was in his cruiser, according to the department. The officer then tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver sped away toward Peachtree Dunwoody Road, police said.
After putting out a lookout for the Lamborghini, Atlanta police said they found the vehicle, which had crashed on Peachtree Road, just east of Peachtree Dunwoody Road.
Demps, 40, ran from the scene after the crash, police said. Following a search of the area, Sandy Springs officers found him and placed him under arrest without incident. Police said he admitted to fleeing.
He was taken to Fulton County Jail and is facing charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, having a revoked license, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, authorities said.
Police said they found a gun, several credit cards and two credit card scanners in the vehicle. They said the cards had his picture on them but had other various names.
