Two people, including an off-duty officer, were critically injured in a four-vehicle wreck on I-285 East on Sunday morning, according to Sandy Springs police.

The Perimeter’s inner loop was closed at Glenridge Drive for a crash investigation for nearly three hours before reopening shortly before 10 a.m.

The two people injured were a construction worker and an off-duty Morehouse School of Medicine police officer, authorities said. They were taken to a hospital in critical condition. An update on their status was not available Tuesday.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the victims were struck by a suspected drunk driver. Police told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution they were assisting victims in an earlier wreck.

Morehouse School of Medicine did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday.

Officials have not shared details about what caused the crash or if any others received injuries.
