Gwinnett County police are asking for the public’s help to identify a driver who caused a fatal crash and then left the scene.

Luis Urquiza Requena, 36, of Winder, was killed Nov. 24 when his car was hit by another vehicle and went over a guardrail on Winder Highway. The driver of Requena’s vehicle, a 56-year-old man from Winder, was also injured.

According to Gwinnett traffic investigators, the 56-year-old was driving west on Winder Highway when he was hit near Still Road about 6:40 a.m. He lost control, went over the guardrail and rolled down an embankment, police said in a news release.

Investigators do not know what kind of vehicle was responsible for the crash.

“Though there is no suspect description, witnesses are encouraged to call GCPD Investigators or Atlanta Crime Stoppers with any helpful information,” police spokeswoman Officer Hideshi Valle said in the news release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 678-442-5653. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
