Police have arrested a man who, according to investigators, shot and killed a security guard after he was booted from a downtown Atlanta bar earlier this month.

Damon John-Michael Wilson, 21, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and simple battery. He remained in custody Thursday night at the Fulton County Jail without bond.

Wilson was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Tyshon Ross, a 28-year-old security guard gunned down as he escorted a man out of the Encore Hookah Bar and Bistro on Feb. 2, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Police were called to the bar at 320 Luckie Street shortly after midnight and found Ross with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to police.

After an encounter inside the bar, Ross and the suspected shooter got into a fight outside, the AJC reported. Police have not said why Wilson was kicked out of the bar.

He was gone by the time officers arrived on scene, but police released surveillance photos of him the day of the shooting, the last in a rash of seven nightclub shootings investigated by police over the span of just two weeks. Three people were killed and eight were injured in the shootings between Jan. 22 and Feb. 2.

A surveillance photo of the suspect was released Feb. 2.

The real estate group that manages the Luckie Street property confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution they are in eviction proceedings with Encore’s owner.

Habif Properties first notified the business in September that their lease would be terminated over concerns of “criminal incidents occurring outside Encore Hookah,” the Atlanta-based company said in a statement. The business agreed to vacate by Dec. 23 but was still operating, the company said. The property group has filed for eviction and is awaiting a hearing date.
