Police arrested a 16-year-old boy who they say shot a woman during an armed robbery in Rome over the weekend.

Micah Johnson will be charged as an adult after being taken into custody Monday on warrants of armed robbery, Rome police Assistant Chief Debbie Burnett said. AJC.com only identifies juveniles facing charges when they’re being charged as adults.

Just before 12:45 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call of a 2013 blue Nissan Rogue in a ditch off Shoreline Drive in the Garden Lakes area, Burnett said. No one was in the vehicle, but officers found 25-year-old Keana Tiara Harper inside a nearby home with a gunshot wound to her upper torso.

She was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery, Burnett said. She is stable, but remains in critical condition. Police believe she knew Johnson.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Harper planned to meet up with Johnson at a lake after chatting with him for several weeks on social media. He’s accused of robbing and shooting her once she got into a car with him.

A second suspect is also sought in this case, but that person has not been identified, Burnett said. No other details have been released.
