Police have lots of questions after a 17-year-old Peachtree City boy was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run.

Just before 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person lying on Ga. 74, just north of the highway’s intersection with Paschal Drive.

Authorities found Christopher Jordan Babilonia with “severe injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle,” Peachtree City Lt. Odilia Bergh said Friday in an emailed statement. At the time of the crash, Babilonia was on his golf cart, which was found 20 yards away, Channel 2 Action News reported.

He was taken to Piedmont Fayette Hospital and died soon after he arrived. According to Channel 2, Babilonia attended McIntosh High School. Fayette County Public Schools told the news station grief counselors were at the school for Babilonia’s classmates.

Meanwhile, authorities continue to search for any clues in the fatal wreck.

“There were no vehicles or witnesses involved in the incident on scene,” Bergh said.

They don’t know what kind of vehicle they are looking for, she said, and they don’t have a description of the driver. Police have not said why Babilonia was in the area Thursday night.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen something that can help investigators to call 770-487-8866. Tips can be given anonymously through TipSubmit.com or by texting PTCTIPS to 275637.

Investigators will also be checking Facebook messages for submissions.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Babilonia's aunt to help with funeral expenses.
