The suspect accused of fatally shooting a man Monday in Newton County during a burglary was booked into jail Thursday, authorities said.
Trae Johnson, 20, of Newborn, was arrested in Kennesaw on Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and Newton County sheriff’s deputies, spokeswoman LaTavia Washington said.
Wintez Moody, 22, called 911 around 9 p.m. to report someone was trying to break into his Covington home on Brookwood Drive, Washington earlier told AJC.com.
Moody was found dead in the home with gunshot wounds when deputies arrived, she said.
Johnson faces felony murder and armed robbery charges. He remains in the Newton County Jail without bond.
A vigil for Moody is planned for 7 p.m. Friday at his home, Channel 2 Action News reported.
