Police said a 1-year-old wandered off by himself near a busy Cobb County highway last week. Now his mother faces charges.

Taylor Rene McGullian, 29, is accused of leaving her 8-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy alone at the Uptown Inn and Suites off Lions Drive on Thursday, the Cobb sheriff’s office told Channel 2 Action News. The toddler, who was only wearing his diaper, was found by other residents near Veterans Memorial Highway.

The girl was asleep when the toddler wandered off, Channel 2 reported. After others at the motel called 911 and deputies arrived, McGullian came back.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by Channel 2, McGullian told deputies she “left the motel for about an hour and a half,” but her daughter told investigators she had been “gone from earlier that night.”

McGullian was charged with reckless conduct and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after deputies searched her car and found weed, the news station reported.

She was released from jail on a $2,420 bond, jail records show.
