A woman and her son, wanted for the murder of the woman’s ex-boyfriend in North Carolina, have been captured separately in Georgia, authorities said.
Brandon Hogan, 30, was taken into custody in Rabun County, the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release issued early Thursday morning.
His mother, Nancy Cherie Hogan, 47, was arrested in Rabun County Wednesday night.
She was charged with murder in the killiing Tuesday of Edward Brown Praytor, 67, in Marshall, N.C.
Praytor had been beaten and stabbed and his body was found in the driveway of his home by a friend, the Madison County, N.C. Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Murder warrants had been issued for the Hogans, who were described as possibly armed and dangerous, and police began hunting for them in north Georgia and western North Carolina.
Brandon Hogan was also sought in Habersham County for failing to appear on felony child molestation charges, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Citizen-Times in Asheville reported that the Hogans and Praytor all had connections to Georgia, citing Madison County Sheriff's Office chief deputy Michael Garrison.
Nancy Hogan had been living with Praytor until February or March 2014, when there was “a falling out,” Garrison said, according to the Citizen-Times.
“There have been some issues since that time,” Garrison said.
